During Coldplay’s last show in Melbourne for their Music of the Spheres tour, Chris Martin accidentally fell through a trapdoor on stage. While performing “Speed of Sound,” he was reading signs held up by fans, and as he stepped backward, he missed his spot and fell right into an open door on the stage floor.
Fortunately, a crew member was waiting below and managed to catch Martin before he hit the floor, preventing what could have been a painful fall. The crowd gasped in shock, but Martin quickly bounced back up. He joked with fans, saying the fall wasn’t planned, and thanked the crew member who saved him. Laughing it off, he jumped right back into the show without missing a beat, showing he wasn’t hurt.
Interestingly, Martin’s fall is similar to an incident just a month ago in Melbourne, when Olivia Rodrigo fell through a trapdoor on stage at a different venue. She was fine and kept performing, just like Martin.
Coldplay’s Melbourne concerts were a big success, and the band still has shows lined up in Sydney and Auckland, New Zealand. Despite this unexpected slip, Martin’s quick recovery and sense of humor made it a moment fans won’t forget. It was a fun reminder of how anything can happen in a live show.
