It seems like yesterday we lost the great Chris Cornell. The legendary Cornell was most known for his most notable performances as the singer for bands such as Soundgarden and Audioslave. As Chris’ wife, Vicky Cornell currently goes forth with a lawsuit against Chris’ bandmates in Soundgarden for whom she claims have withheld money from her that is due to Chris Cornell; sad details are just now emerging about the star’s passing via his former bodyguard, Martin Kirsten.
In a video that is just now going onto the message boards due to a resurgence in the wonderment that has been surrounding Chris Cornell’s life and death – Chris’ former bodyguard, Martin Kirsten gave his only taped interview in which he weighed in on the situation that took the life of Cornell.
During the interview, Martin never directly stated it was Cornell who he was speaking about due to confidentiality issues that may arise, but Kirsten was surely speaking about Chris as he said the saddest part in his career was having a client commit suicide on the road. Martin, of course, was the bodyguard for Chris when his suicide happened.
Martin then sadly said he had a friend commit suicide previously and it’s just an awful experience.
Here is what Marin had to say as transcribed by BritPopNews.
Martin: “Essentially, the sadness, the horror, and the pain…your world crashing down…and the rebuild starts. It’s tough. I had a lot of good people around me that surrounded me with love and prayer and you know, you gotta get past the doubt and sadness. Yeah, it was – it felt like…I’d been encapsulated in a bubble. I tried my best to keep my head up and my shoulders back and keep going because as hard as it is – life does go on.”
Martin closes: “Through the passing of my friend, my dad, and my client it knocks you back. It hurts to the core. One step at a time. One day at a time.”
