Britney Spears resists calls to reconcile with Jamie Spears
Ms Britney Spears has reacted sharply to family efforts encouraging her to rebuild contact with her father, Jamie Spears, according to a report citing insiders close to the singer’s circle. The update adds to ongoing scrutiny of the pop star’s strained family relationships following the end of her long-running conservatorship.
UNN reported, citing Page Six, that the very idea of reconciliation causes Ms Spears strong emotional discomfort, even as her sons Sean Preston and Jayden are said to have re-established contact with their grandfather and are positive about the prospect of closer family ties.
The report said an unnamed source claimed Ms Spears is tense because discussions about renewed contact have resurfaced, while Jamie Spears is said to want dialogue and a compromise after years of conflict. Insiders also said Ms Spears remains deeply affected by what she considers psychological trauma from the conservatorship period, which lasted more than a decade and gave her father significant control over her personal and financial decisions.
In recent Britpop News coverage of the singer, she was reported to be devastated and fearing jail after a DUI arrest, underscoring the continued public attention on her personal life.
The UNN report added that Ms Spears fears any hypothetical return of her father to a role managing her affairs, while people close to the family said Jamie Spears has faced serious health problems in recent years and regrets the rift. Court filings from 2021 were also referenced, in which his lawyer Vivian L. Thoreen argued the conservatorship was designed to support and stabilise Ms Spears’s life.
