Brian May from Queen recently shared how much he enjoyed The Last Dinner Party, a new baroque-pop band. He went to their concert at the Eventim Apollo in London on October 16 and called them the “new British Rock Royalty.” May was very impressed with their performance and thanked the lead singer, Emily, for inviting him. He encouraged others to see the band live, saying it was just the “Rock Tonic” he needed. May was also concerned after Queen’s video got removed as well.
May also posted a video from the concert showing the band playing their final song, “Nothing Matters,” with confetti falling in the venue. His praise for the band comes after Roger Taylor, his bandmate in Queen, hinted that Queen might make new music after 30 years if they feel inspired.
The Last Dinner Party recently spoke to NME about how they’ve created a strong connection with their fans. Bassist Georgia Davies said they’ve built a community, especially for people who felt different or isolated because of their sexuality, appearance, or music taste.
“I got to meet the new British Rock Royalty tonight – The Last Dinner Party – and they completely smashed it tonight at the Eventim Apollo. What a great show! What a joy!!! Thanks Emily for inviting me. That was just what I needed – a good ol’ dose of Rock Tonic. Folks, you have to see these guys!”
In a review of the band’s first album, NME gave them four stars and said that despite the criticism they’ve faced early on, they’ve created great songs that people can relate to and enjoy. The review highlighted how the band’s success is well-earned, thanks to their strong music and relatable themes.
