Royal Expert Says Prince Harry Can’t Set Terms
Prince Harry has been warned that setting conditions for improved relations with the Royal Family could deepen existing tensions, as discussion continues about the Duke of Sussex potentially returning to the UK with Meghan Markle for the Invictus Games in 2027.
Professor Pauline Maclaran, co-author of “Royal Fever” at Royal Holloway, University of London, told Express that she did not believe Prince Harry was “in any position to make demands” of the royals, arguing that such requests would be likely to “alienate them further.”
The report says Prince Harry has indicated he would want Meghan to be treated with courtesy, while the professor also questioned whether Prince William could trust private conversations would remain private, given concerns about leaks.
PR specialist Ms Lynn Carratt said that publicly reported “conditions” risk keeping the feud in the headlines, even as reconciliation talk suggests progress, adding that “basic civility is the bare minimum” in any family. The latest comments follow earlier claims that Prince Harry wanted assurances over Meghan’s treatment before any return to Britain.
Speculation has also focused on whether Prince William could meet Prince Harry in the United States this summer during the 2026 World Cup, though no reunion has been confirmed and any discussions would likely depend on strict discretion from both sides.
