Prince William ‘ended friendship’ with ITV’s Tom Bradby, biography claims
Prince William is said to have severed ties with ITV News presenter Mr Tom Bradby after feeling “betrayed” by the journalist’s involvement in a documentary featuring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The claim appears in a new biography by Mr Russell Myers, The Mirror’s royal editor, which details strains behind the scenes during the Sussexes’ 2019 tour of South Africa.
The Mirror reported that the Prince of Wales felt Mr Bradby had “crossed a line” by taking part in the ITV documentary, in which Prince Harry said he and his brother were on “different paths” and Meghan spoke about her struggles under media scrutiny.
According to the book, Mr Bradby had built a rapport with Prince William while working as a royal correspondent, but sources with knowledge of a subsequent conversation claimed the future King was furious when the presenter contacted him after returning from Africa to share concerns about Prince Harry’s wellbeing. One source quoted in the article said: “William felt betrayed and severely let down,” adding that he believed Mr Bradby had “taken Harry’s side”.
The biography also revisits the wider deterioration in the brothers’ relationship, which has been the subject of previous reports including claims that Prince William reportedly ‘distanced’ himself from Prince Harry as tensions deepened following the Sussexes’ decision to step back from royal duties.
Mr Myers’ book, William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story, is due to be published on 26 February by Ebury, Penguin Random House. The serialised extracts underline how personal friendships around the Royal Family can become flashpoints when private family matters play out on a global stage.
