Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 279 didn’t start on a good note. The company decided to honour the legacy of the longest-living monarch of the United Kingdom, only to receive boos and fan chants of the USA. The company ensured that the mistake wasn’t repeated so they limited the responses to their tweet and ensured that only those tagged in the tweet can respond.
UFC is known for its fights, but UFC 279 will be known for how the fans booed the monarch and didn’t feel bad about it. The MGM Grand Garden Arena was filled with responses from fans that didn’t share the same sentiment as the company.

The situation was reported by various journalists who were available at the event. Shockingly, UFC members from The States were open to paying tribute, but the ones from Britain refrained from paying any tribute or making a comment. Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and MMA journalist Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports shared this:
UFC PPV starts off with a moment of silence in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth, which is met with boos and then a USA chant.

The UFC put a photo of Queen Elizabeth II on the video board with the year of her birth and death. And some in the crowd booed

Dana White along with MMA fighters Cris Cyborg, Mike Perry, Terrance McKinney, Megan Anderson, and Marion Reneau, shared their tribute to The Queen, who passed away in the Scottish estate, Balmoral, at the age of 96. She came to the throne in 1952 and was the monarch for the last 70 years.

Glad I got to put on a show for your Platinum jubilee year Queen. Rest In Peace to the Queen of England. https://t.co/IwFXCrVw4E

Wow.. what an incredible life she's lived.
May she finally rest in peace now 🥺🙏🏻 https://t.co/1xduGw4uAf

Prayers to the UK 🙏🏾 hope the Queen finds her rest

Michael Bisping and Leon Edwards hail from England, but they refrained from comment. Paddy Pimblett is the hottest rising star from Britain, but she maintained her silence on the matter. It’s shocking as fans would have expected a response from their end, which hasn’t happened as of this writing.
Why do you think they aren’t making it official on their social media accounts? Sound off in the comments.
