Thom Yorke played a solo show in Auckland, New Zealand, on October 25, performing several Radiohead songs, including All I Need and Kid A, for the first time on his own. He’s currently touring solo across Australia and Asia, featuring tracks from Radiohead, The Smile, Atoms For Peace, and his solo work. Notably, he closed the show with Lucky, marking his first solo performance of the 1997 song in 20 years. Other highlights included his solo renditions of Fake Plastic Trees and Let Down. The Cure and Radiohead also teamed up against AI recently.
At the tour’s opening night in Christchurch, Yorke introduced a new song called Back In The Game. Recently, he responded to fan speculation about Radiohead’s future, saying he doesn’t feel pressured to meet fans’ expectations and believes the band has earned the freedom to follow their own path.
Meanwhile, Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood discussed the band’s summer reunion rehearsals, although his brother Jonny shared that there are no plans for new Radiohead projects in 2025 as members focus on individual work.
Radiohead side project The Smile—comprising Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and drummer Tom Skinner—also released a new album, Cutouts. The album, recorded with the London Contemporary Orchestra, received positive reviews for its experimental, playful sound, showing the group enjoying a fresh approach to music-making.
