The Killers have revealed a new photo of guitarist Dave Keuning to celebrate his birthday, seemingly confirming his return on the band’s 7th studio album after a near 4 year hiatus from the band.
The Killers tweeted, “David Guitarzan Brent Keuning born this day 1976.” Keuning only recorded half of 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful, and left the band as their touring guitarist after Lollapalooza in August 2017. He returned for the ‘Vegas Strong’ show with Mark Stoermer in December 2017 but has been completely absent from the band since then, not appearing at all on the 2020 Killers album Imploding the Mirage.
Machopsdontcry posted on The Killers Reddit, “Happy 45th birthday to Dave Keuning, badly missing from recent Killers music imo. Every top tier Killers track has a Keuning solo on it. It’s what imo prevents MOSW from being a 9/10 instead of 8/10. Let’s hope we hear his magic soon on the next album not restricted like he was on Battle Born/D&A.”
TheBanda01 responded, “I agree! Although, not with the restricted part on Battle Born or Day & Age. I think that was some of his best work. EG: Runaways, The Rising Tide, Battle Born, Losing Touch, The World we live in, Human, I could go on. If anything, he was restricted on WW the most. But yes…looking forward to his triumphant return.”
