Ellen Pompeo recently appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and shared some sweet memories about her connection with Taylor Swift. Taylor famously named one of her cats after Pompeo’s Grey’s Anatomy character, Meredith Grey. The two later worked together when Pompeo made a cameo in Taylor’s star-studded “Bad Blood” music video.
Pompeo also revealed a heartwarming story about Taylor’s generosity. She and her husband, Chris Ivery, do volunteer work for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, which has a special music program for babies in the NICU (newborn intensive care unit). The program records parents singing or telling stories so the babies can hear their voices when they’re not there—and it actually helps the babies’ recovery.
Pompeo said she asked Taylor if she could help support the program. Even though they had only known each other for about 20 minutes, Taylor didn’t hesitate—she wrote a large check to support the cause.
“She just wrote me the biggest check without blinking,” Pompeo recalled.
She also talked about how easy and fun it was filming “Bad Blood.” She was on set for just an hour or two and shared a scene with Mariska Hargitay, another actress who had a cat named after her Law & Order: SVU character, Olivia Benson. Pompeo is currently promoting her new Hulu show, Good American Family.
