John Boyega is a fine actor whose work has spoken for him. He ensures that every work he does leaves a lasting impression. The talented superstar was recently asked about the rumors of a black man playing James Bond. The 007 series has been everyone’s favorite, and John is no exception.
Boyega has doubts if a black man will ever play the lead role. The grapevine had suggested that there may be a black man playing the title role. While John tried to play it subtly, he clarified that he doesn’t think a black man would ever play the role of James Bond.
He spoke about this during the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast with a retort saying, “I’m sorry, but I’m Black — I don’t know how….” Boyega thinks that the mention of a black Bond would not go well with white people who are used to seeing a white man play the lead character.
John did say that if the franchise does go with a Black Bond, then he would be up for it. The producer Barbara Broccoli made it clear that the new Bond could be of any ethnicity and race, but he should be male and British.
With “Bridgerton” breakout Regé-Jean Page, Tom Hardy, and Jacob Elordi to be a part of the mix, there is a tough task at hand, especially since Amazon purchased MGM. It would be interesting to see how this pans out because a change always comes with its own set of surprises.
