Celebrity chef Richard Corrigan shared his thoughts on Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, and he wasn’t impressed. In an interview with the Daily Mail, he said he found the show “a bit pretentious” and didn’t like how it felt too polished and artificial. “California is all very Hollywood, it’s all very samey — Britain is not like that,” he said. Meghan Markle also roasted Drew Barrymore’s weird behavior.
Corrigan, who owns two popular restaurants in London, also gave his opinion on Meghan and Prince Harry’s role in the royal family. He suggested that since they left their royal duties in 2020, they have become a burden to King Charles, who is currently battling cancer. “If you’re going to leave [royal life], buy yourself a nice place and enjoy yourself, but don’t become a burden,” he said.
The chef also sympathized with King Charles, saying that parents can’t control who their children marry. “You can never be responsible for who your children marry, and you shouldn’t be — they have to make their own way in the world. The royals are a nice bunch — we all have odd ones in the family,” he added.
This isn’t the first time Corrigan has spoken about Meghan. He once said he had cooked for Queen Elizabeth II for free but suggested that Meghan wouldn’t get the same treatment. He said she would be welcome at his restaurant, but unlike the queen, she wouldn’t get the “red carpet” treatment.
Corrigan isn’t the only one who didn’t enjoy With Love, Meghan. Comedian Katherine Ryan, who had supported Meghan in the past, also found the show too polished and fake. On her Telling Everybody Everything podcast, she said, “I liked Meghan Markle. I was rooting for Meghan Markle… but she is very Hollywood – even for me – and I don’t like that in people.”
Ryan also questioned some of Meghan’s past claims, like whether she really didn’t know much about Prince Harry before they met. “I see now, and maybe it’s just the projects she’s choosing, but it does feel like she has lied about whether she knew who Prince Harry was, and some details about her childhood don’t add up,” she said.
