Royal Blood frontman Mike Kerr revealed that Josh Homme enjoys wearing wigs in a new Ultimate-Guitar interview.
You worked with [Queens of the Stone Age singer/guitarist] Josh Homme on this record as well. What was that like? What did you learn from working with him on this record?
“One of the biggest lessons was to never ever underestimate the power of wearing a wig. Josh has a plethora of wigs and costumes that he insists on wearing and us wearing at all times.
“It gives you the ability to walk into a studio, walk into a recording session, and take on a different persona or personality that you may have already had in you but you needed to express. For ‘Boilermaker’ I was performing in a huge curly wig. It was a hell of a lot of fun.”
I have to ask – which songs were influenced by which wigs?
“You know what, there’s actually a diagram with the deluxe edition of the vinyl that demonstrates what songs correlate to what wigs.”
Royal Blood released their new album ‘Typhoons’ on Friday, which has a strong Queens of the Stone Age influence, which makes sense with Josh Homme producing the new record.
