Ringo Starr was disappointed at an Elton John show as described in a video, and he wasn’t alone in his views.
recently shared the surprising and funny reason he walked out of one of Elton John’s gigs—and he wasn’t alone.
According to Ringo Starr, he and Elton John’s own mother left one of Elton’s Wembley Stadium concerts early. The reason? They didn’t recognize a single song. Speaking with the Sunday Times, he explained why he has stopped attempting to introduce new tracks during his own gigs.
Speaking about John’s show that he attended at London’s Wembley Stadium, Starr said: “He came on and said, ‘I’m only going to do the new album.’ Me and his mother left after three tracks because we didn’t know them.”
Addressing why he no longer introduces new songs during his shows, the drummer said: “The band sounds great. We have a fun time and we just do it. In the late ‘90s I would put in, like, two or three from the new album, and you could feel the room empty. It happens to everybody.”
Ringo’s vocals on classics like ‘With a Little Help from My Friends,’ and ‘Yellow Submarine’ are unforgettable. Even today, those songs are staples in his live performances, continuing to bring joy to fans around the world.
Ringo Starr recently announced plans for a special country concert, celebrating his legacy alongside Jack White and Sheryl Crow. It’s a tribute to the versatility of his music and the way it continues to inspire across genres.
