King Charles and Prince Harry Won’t Meet on US Trip
King Charles and Prince Harry are not expected to meet later this month despite both being in the United States, with the King travelling to Washington, DC for a long-planned state visit while the Duke of Sussex remains based in California.
Hello Magazine reported that there is no plan for the Duke to return to Washington during the King’s visit, with the five-hour flight from Montecito cited as a key practical obstacle to arranging a reunion.
The publication said the King and Queen are set to attend an official banquet at the White House, and that the monarch will address a joint meeting of Congress as part of the visit, marking the first royal address there since 1991 and tying in with events connected to the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The report also quoted a source describing the situation as “logistically or practically” difficult, adding that the pair have met in person twice since the King’s coronation in 2023 and that the King has kept his distance amid Prince Harry’s ongoing legal cases involving the media and the Home Office. Separate reporting has suggested Prince Harry is considering future UK travel, including hopes of a potential Sandringham invitation later this year.
Attention is now likely to shift to Prince Harry’s expected UK visit in July to begin the countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, and to forthcoming legal decisions that could affect how frequently he and his family travel to Britain.
