Princess Kate Joins King Charles for Cancer Research UK Event

Princess Kate joined King Charles and Queen Camilla at St James’s Palace in London on Tuesday night for a reception marking a major milestone for Cancer Research UK. The appearance, confirmed by Kensington Palace only hours beforehand, brought the Princess of Wales back into the public spotlight during a week when the charity celebrated its 125th anniversary.

At the event, Hello Magazine reported that King Charles met researchers, clinicians, volunteers and partners connected to the charity’s work, and also spoke with celebrity supporters including Davina McCall.

The evening carried added significance because both the King and the Princess of Wales have faced cancer diagnoses in recent years. Hello said Princess Kate’s cancer was discovered after abdominal surgery in 2024 and she completed chemotherapy in September that year, later announcing she was in remission at the start of 2025, while the King continues treatment after being diagnosed in 2024.

During the reception, Princess Kate also chatted with guests about how to speak to children about cancer, an exchange that included a light moment about advice from Prince William, as she joked about William being “good” at offering guidance during the conversation.

The Palace has not indicated whether Princess Kate will take on more public engagements in the coming weeks, but her attendance at the Cancer Research UK celebration reinforced the Royal Family’s continued support for cancer research and highlighted the personal connection behind the charity’s work.
