Prince William World Cup Trip Rumours Denied by Palace
Rumours that Prince William could travel to the United States for the FIFA World Cup with Prince George have been played down, with Kensington Palace saying there are currently no public plans for a trip. The suggestion comes as the tournament approaches and interest grows over whether the Prince of Wales, a prominent supporter of football, might attend in person.
The report suggested the visit could be a private appearance by William and his eldest son, and that it would be notable as a potential first US trip for the Wales children; however, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said there were “currently no public plans for a trip to the U.S.”, SheKnows reported.
In the same piece, royal author Christopher Andersen was quoted saying Prince George is a “passionate soccer fan” and would love to attend the World Cup, arguing it would be unprecedented for “two future kings” to make the journey together. The article also noted William’s visible enthusiasm for the sport, including his support for Aston Villa and recent travel to watch matches abroad.
The Wales family has kept Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ overseas travel limited in recent years, with school schedules and official commitments often shaping arrangements; William has also spoken previously about wanting to create big sporting memories with his eldest son, including taking him to a major European fixture. That context has fuelled public interest in where the pair might be seen during the summer of football.
For now, the Palace’s position indicates any potential World Cup attendance is not on the public calendar, meaning royal watchers may have to wait to see whether William supports England from afar or makes any late-arranged appearance.
