Prince William honours royal driver at Windsor
Prince William has honoured a long-serving member of the Prince and Princess of Wales’s household during an investiture at Windsor Castle, recognising the behind-the-scenes staff who support the royal family’s public duties.
At the ceremony, Express reported that the Prince of Wales presented the Royal Victorian Medal in silver to Lance Sergeant Scott Robin Bishop, described as his most trusted driver, for services to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The award is part of the Royal Victorian Order honours, which are given for personal service to the Sovereign or other members of the Royal Family. The same investiture list also included other recipients from outside the royal household, among them darts player Luke Littler and actor Ms Cynthia Erivo, according to the report.
The recognition follows a similar honour earlier this year for the Waleses’ nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, who was awarded the Royal Victorian Medal in silver in March after joining the household in 2014, shortly after Prince George was born. Separately, Prince William has also been seen engaging with the public side of his role, including football commitments where he joked with Pep Guardiola during FA Cup medal presentations.
Royal Victorian honours are notable because they are awarded at the monarch’s discretion and are typically associated with personal service. The latest investiture underlines the continued focus on recognising household staff whose work is largely carried out away from the public eye.
