Prince William recently surprised soccer fans with a round of drinks during his first public outing since his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, announced her cancer is in remission. On Wednesday, January 15, the Prince of Wales, 42, was spotted at a Birmingham Wetherspoons pub with Aston Villa fans before they attended a match between their team and Everton.
This visit came after William attended a College of Paramedics conference, where he was named patron. The trip to the pub had been arranged by the soccer club after William requested to meet some of their biggest supporters. A Kensington Palace spokesperson confirmed that William paid for a round of drinks for the fans.
William was waiting for his train home when he stopped at the pub, located at the Birmingham New Street train station. He was described as being “down to earth” and friendly by some of the fans present. One of the pub-goers, 18-year-old Daniel Jones, said that William was “lovely” and shared a passion for the soccer team. William also mentioned that he would be watching the match on TV that night.
This outing came just one day after Princess Kate announced that she was in remission following her cancer treatment. She shared her gratitude for the care she received at The Royal Marsden Hospital and expressed relief about her remission, while emphasizing that her recovery is ongoing.
