Tom Bower Claims William Could Bar Harry at Coronation
Prince William could exclude Prince Harry from his future coronation, according to claims attributed to royal biographer Tom Bower in a new report revisiting the brothers’ long-running estrangement. The article says the Duke of Sussex has spoken publicly about wanting reconciliation, but has not met William in person for years.
In its write-up of allegations contained in Mr Tom Bower’s book Betrayal, Woman & Home reported that a guest at King Charles’s coronation reception claimed Prince William “had decided that afternoon not to invite Harry to his coronation”.
The same piece also references Mr Bower’s suggestion that, once William is King, he might take a tougher stance towards the Sussexes, including considering changes to royal titles. It notes the book’s claim that the Duke of Sussex may have been unsettled by what it calls “unprecedented sanctions” against Prince Andrew, arguing that the episode may have underscored that status within the Royal Family is not guaranteed.
The report adds that Mr Bower alleges Prince William could even look at removing titles held by Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are listed in the line of succession, amid broader debate about a “slimmed down” monarchy. Britpop News has previously covered claims that Prince Harry reportedly fears his children could lose their titles as tensions continue.
Any future decisions about invitations and titles would sit within constitutional and palace processes, but the latest claims highlight how unresolved family divisions continue to shape speculation about the monarchy’s next era.
