Prince William Blushes After 94-Year-Old’s Flirty Remark
Prince William was left laughing during a visit to the Isles of Scilly after a 94-year-old resident jokingly invited him to stay the night in her room. The light-hearted exchange happened as the Prince of Wales toured the Isles of Scilly Hospital and met residents and staff during his trip on 22 May.
During the visit, 94-year-old Dot Elvin asked the prince, “Are you coming to stay?”, prompting him to quip that her room had “only one bed” and might be “a bit cozy”, before joking they could “come to some sort of arrangement”, InStyle reported.
The conversation continued when Ms Elvin asked if he would bring Catherine, Princess of Wales, on a future visit, with William joking he would need his wife there to “protect” him. The prince’s humour also surfaced again when he met 102-year-old Hilda Richards, said to be the island’s oldest resident, and responded to her age with surprise before telling her she did not look “anywhere near 102”.
The engagement also underlined William’s work linked to the Duchy of Cornwall, which is supporting redevelopment at the hospital, and it comes as the Prince of Wales has recently spoken publicly about family life, including his remarks on how much he relies on Princess Kate as they balance parenting with royal duties.
William later used social media to frame the Duchy’s wider direction as a move towards more active community investment with social and environmental purpose, signalling that similar projects could form a growing part of his work as Prince of Wales.
