Meghan Markle once gave Prince Harry a small Christmas ornament of Queen Elizabeth, but it didn’t last long. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry shared that he, Meghan, and their son Archie spent their first Christmas in the U.S. in 2020. That year, Meghan gave him the ornament of the Queen, and Harry was surprised. He said it made him smile, and he hung it on the tree at eye level, happy to see the Queen’s face.
However, little Archie, who was only 19 months old at the time, accidentally broke the ornament while playing around the tree. Harry heard a smash and found the pieces on the floor. Archie tried to fix it by spraying water on the broken pieces, thinking it would help. Meghan stopped him and joked, “No, Archie, no—do not spray Gan-Gan!” Harry then cleaned up the mess, amused by the situation.
The Sussex family is spending the holidays in the U.S. again this year, as they haven’t been part of the royal Christmas celebrations since 2018. Meghan said in a recent interview that she loves the holidays, especially now that Archie and Lilibet are old enough to understand Christmas. She’s excited to experience the magic of traditions like leaving carrots out for the reindeer through their eyes.
