Report Says Harry’s Sandringham Invite Bid Backfired
A new report claims Prince Harry’s apparent push for a family reunion with King Charles this summer has proved counter-productive, after publicity around the idea sparked irritation inside the Palace. The Duke of Sussex has recently been back in the headlines following the conclusion of his High Court lawsuit against a newspaper group, and attention has turned again to whether he will see the King in the coming months.
In a piece carried by Yahoo, the report says sources close to Prince Harry claimed he would welcome an invitation for him, Meghan Markle and their children to spend “family time” at Sandringham in July, but that the way the message entered the public domain caused frustration at Buckingham Palace.
The article says HELLO! Magazine described the situation as an unusual approach for someone who has repeatedly criticised press intrusion and sought privacy, and it quoted an unnamed insider urging that discussions about a meeting should be kept out of the public eye. The report also noted that King Charles last saw Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in person during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
The renewed focus comes amid wider reporting about reconciliation efforts, including claims that the Duke “would love” a Sandringham invitation as his legal battle over UK security continues.
No official comment was offered on the latest claims. The report suggests, however, that any progress towards a meeting may depend on whether future contact can be handled more privately, as trust issues and past public disputes remain central to the rift.
