Princess Lilibet turned four years old on June 4, and her birthday brings back memories of her special birth, which Prince Harry shared in his book Spare.
Lilibet was born in 2021 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, after Harry and Meghan had stepped away from their royal duties in the U.K. Harry described how he helped deliver her, saying he wanted to be the first person she saw. He stood next to the doctor and got ready. When the baby’s head started to show, Harry said it felt like time stopped.
He remembered being worried when he saw her skin looked blue and wasn’t sure if she was breathing. But after one more big push from Meghan, the doctor told Harry to take over. He gently pulled Lilibet out and brought her into the world.
Harry said Lilibet’s birth felt easier and more relaxed compared to the birth of their son Archie, who was born in London in 2019. Since they were no longer working royals, they didn’t have to deal with media attention or royal traditions like official announcements or hospital photo calls. This made things much calmer.
Before Lilibet was born, Harry and Meghan even enjoyed some California food favorites , burgers from In-N-Out and fajitas, and danced together in the hospital room, feeling happy and full of love.
They named their daughter Lilibet Diana to honor both Queen Elizabeth (whose childhood nickname was Lilibet) and Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
To celebrate her fourth birthday, Meghan shared new photos of Lilibet on Instagram, giving fans a rare and sweet look at their daughter.
