King Charles gave a heartfelt tribute to his son Prince William during a fancy state banquet at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, but he did not mention his estranged son, Prince Harry. The 76-year-old monarch made the speech as he and Queen Camilla hosted French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, along with over 150 guests.
Charles praised William for making Windsor his family’s home, pointing out that it was fitting since the castle was originally built by William, Duke of Normandy, back in 1070. He warmly noted how William and Catherine now live there with their children, just like many royals before them.
The king also spoke about the strong friendship between Britain and France.
Notably, he left Harry out of his speech. This isn’t too surprising, given the ongoing tensions between Harry and the royal family. Harry, who now lives in California with Meghan Markle, recently told the BBC he would “love a reconciliation” with his father, despite saying that Charles “won’t speak” to him.
William and Catherine moved to Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate in 2022. They live there with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, while still visiting their London home at Kensington Palace.
