Prince Harry is preparing for a rare trip to Britain, and reports suggest he hopes to use the visit to reset his relationships with both the Royal family and the UK government. His main goal is believed to be securing future protection for his wife and children during any visits back to the UK.
This week, Harry will spend four days in Britain , his longest stay since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. Friends told The Sunday Times that he wants to return more often and eventually bring Meghan and their children with him so they can see where he grew up and connect with family members.
Although he previously said he couldn’t bring his family back because of losing his legal case over security, sources say Harry may now try a new approach by privately lobbying the government.
The situation is complicated by strained relationships within the Royal family. King Charles, still receiving cancer treatment at Balmoral, reportedly misses his son. However, Harry admitted earlier this year that his father refuses to speak to him over security issues and that some family members may never forgive him for his book and other past actions. Harry has not met with the King since a brief visit in February 2024 after the monarch’s diagnosis.
Tensions with Prince William also remain a barrier. According to reports, William believes it would be a mistake for the King to meet with Harry during this trip.
So far, no meeting between Harry and his father has been confirmed. Instead, Harry’s schedule is said to be packed with charity appearances and very little downtime.
