Netflix will not renew Meghan and Harry’s $100 million deal but might work with them in the future—especially if they get divorced, journalist Marina Hyde claims.
Hyde believes other streaming services may also keep in touch with the couple in case their marriage ends, as a documentary about their split would attract big audiences. She said Netflix might say they’re still developing projects with the Sussexes but will likely not continue their contract.
Meghan’s latest show, With Love, Meghan, has received poor reviews and low viewership. Hyde and her podcast co-host Richard Osman think the couple’s biggest TV success was their 2022 Harry & Meghan documentary.
Osman criticized Meghan’s new show, saying the concept—inviting friends over and cooking for them—was flawed because it wasn’t even filmed in her own home. He also suggested that Meghan should return to acting, as she could get any role she wanted.
Hyde joked that if she were Meghan, she would have married Harry, had two kids, divorced him, and returned to Hollywood to become the next Julia Roberts.
Prince Harry recently addressed rumors about trouble in their marriage, saying people keep speculating that they’ve divorced or moved houses, but it’s not true. He also said he feels sorry for trolls who spread these rumors because they get their hopes up for nothing.
Comedian Whitney Cummings also criticized With Love, Meghan, saying it seems like a way for Meghan to mock the Royal Family rather than entertain viewers. She pointed out that Meghan’s way of making tea and jam appeared to be subtle insults aimed at King Charles and British traditions.
Cummings compared Meghan’s show to someone posting on social media to get their ex’s attention, saying it wasn’t made for audiences but rather as a message to the royals.
