Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be facing financial trouble after losing their multi-million dollar deal with Netflix, according to a royal expert. This has led to reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may be seeking help from King Charles as they try to rebuild their relationship with the royal family.
The couple stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States to start a new life. Since then, their relationship with the royal family has remained strained. But now, with their $100 million Netflix deal reportedly coming to an end, they are said to be trying to reconnect with King Charles.
Royal expert and author Robert Jobson suggested that Harry and Meghan could be looking for financial support. He said they might be returning “with a bit of a bowl out,” suggesting they are looking for “handouts.” Jobson also said that although King Charles and the late Queen Elizabeth supported them in the past, Harry and Meghan had chosen to go their own way.
Now, with their Spotify deal already lost and Netflix soon ending, Jobson believes their financial situation may be difficult. Another commentator, Rhiannon Mills, also questioned how the couple would continue to fund their expensive lifestyle.
A separate report hinted that the Netflix deal may have fallen apart because Meghan focused more on her personal brand, As Ever, rather than joint projects under the Netflix agreement. The contract is set to officially expire in September.
