Prince Harry is going to Hollywood for a special event in Southern California. He will be at the 22nd annual Living Legends of Aviation ceremony on Friday, April 25, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Actor John Travolta will be the host again.
Harry was honored at last year’s event, and this time he’ll join stars like Morgan Freeman to recognize firefighters who flew planes and helicopters to fight the wildfires in Los Angeles earlier this year.
In January, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle also helped out by giving food and supplies to people affected by the fires. They also met with the brave firefighters.
Harry has experience with flying. He was a helicopter pilot in the British Army for 10 years. He trained in the UK, US, and Australia and flew in Afghanistan. He got his flying license in 2010 after 8 months of training. His father, King Charles, gave him his wings at his graduation. King Charles also gave flying wings to Prince William in 2008.
At last year’s event, Harry made a funny comment about Travolta dancing with Princess Diana in 1985. Harry said, “I was one year old when you danced with my mom. But now here we are, if we’re not dancing, we’ll fly together.”
This year, the event will honor new people, including Christopher Cassidy, a former Navy SEAL and astronaut; Robert “Hoot” Gibson, a pilot and space expert; and Tom Costello, an NBC reporter who covers flying and space stories.
There will also be a brand new award, the Dr. Buzz Aldrin Space Advancement Award. It will go to the Polaris Dawn Crew, a team of four space explorers: Jared Isaacman, Scott “Kid” Poteet, Sarah Gillis, and Anna Menon.
