Report: Prince Andrew planned Gulf departure
Prince Andrew was reportedly preparing to leave the UK for the Gulf before a last-minute tip-off led to his arrest earlier this year, according to a new report. The video claim, published on Friday, said the Duke of York had been planning travel to the Middle East as he looked to rebuild his prospects amid ongoing scrutiny linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The report said Prince Andrew was considering a trip to Bahrain or Abu Dhabi before information to authorities halted the plan, Times of India reported.
The Times of India video described the 66-year-old as a former Royal Navy helicopter pilot and said he had hoped to find financial opportunities and a reputational reset among wealthy Gulf contacts. It added that escalating conflict in the region and the continuing fallout from the Epstein scandal had complicated any effort to relaunch his public standing.
Prince Andrew has faced sustained reputational damage in recent years and, in separate Britpop News reporting, he has been described as “turning to God” after his arrest as the wider controversy continued to play out.
No official itinerary or travel documentation was published alongside the report, and Buckingham Palace has not commented on the claim. The latest account is likely to intensify questions about what, if any, future role the Duke could have as investigations and political debate about his status continue.
