Book Alleges Prince Andrew Insulted Sarah Ferguson
Prince Andrew has been accused of insulting Sarah Ferguson during a business meeting at Royal Lodge in 2015, according to claims repeated in a US celebrity report that cites a royal book. The allegation centres on an incident described as leaving a guest “stunned”, and resurfaces amid continuing scrutiny of the Duke of York’s private conduct and relationships.
Yahoo Entertainment reported that journalist Ms Tina Brown wrote in The Palace Papers that Andrew walked into a room at Royal Lodge and said: “What are you doing with this fat cow?” in reference to his former wife, the Duchess of York, during a meeting with a business associate.
The report said a source quoted in the book described Andrew’s “level of sadism” and claimed Sarah appeared “afraid” of him, while also characterising their long-running arrangement after divorce as mutually beneficial. The same account suggested Andrew would help Ferguson when she was “in trouble” and she would support him when he was “assailed by scandal”, despite their 1996 divorce.
The claims come as there has been renewed interest in Andrew’s living arrangements, with Britpop News previously reporting that he was reportedly branded “entitled” after his Royal Lodge exit in separate coverage about his status within the Royal Family.
Buckingham Palace has not commented on the specific allegation, and Andrew and Ferguson have not responded publicly in the Yahoo report. The book excerpt and the latest reporting are likely to intensify discussion about the former couple’s relationship and the Duke of York’s standing in royal circles.
