Beatles legend Paul McCartney recently shocked the fans after sneaking into a screening of the new “Beatles ’64” documentary.
McCartney surprised moviegoers on Sunday when he watched the film side by side with fans at Hudson Square Theater in New York City. Seated in a random seat in the middle of the venue alongside his wife Nancy Shevell and behind comedian Chris Rock, Paul waved to a few fans before watching the Martin Scorsese produced film.
It was announced to the audience that McCartney was in attendance right before the screening started, but most of the crowd saw him as they were getting seated.
Produced by Martin Scorsese, Beatles ’64 takes a look at the band’s trip to the US that year, the moment where Beatlemania truly went global. The film launches on Disney+ in a couple of days (November 29), but some lucky people have already had the chance to see the documentary at its big screen premiere.
And among them was none other than Paul McCartney himself, who popped into Hudson Square Theater in New York City on Sunday (November 24th) with his wife Nancy Shevell to see the film, the Daily Mail reports.
He appeared calm as he took his seat, but his presence certainly caught the attention of fans, both famous and otherwise, at the screening. Photos taken outside the event display Sir Paul alongside notable figures such as Martin Scorsese, Disney’s Bob Iger, comedian Chris Rock, and E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt.
A mix of archive footage and new interviews, Beatles ’64 looks at the impact the Fab Four had on the US in the period around their first performances on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Scorsese has produced the new Beatles film, which is directed by David Tedeschi.
