Former Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher recently joined in for an interview with NME.
Blur are gearing up for their upcoming Wembley Stadium shows. Blur, who played intimate gigs recently in Colchester and Eastbourne, also announced their first new material in eight years with the ninth studio album, “The Ballad of Darren”, which would be released on July 21. First track “The Narcissist” is already out.
The Britpop legends are also slated to play pair of dates at the iconic venue on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July. The freshly reunited Britpop icons will also return to Japan to perform at Summersonic Festival for the first time since 2003, with the festival set to be held in Tokyo’s Zozomarine Stadium and Makuhari Messe on August 19 and in Osaka’s Maishima Sonic Park on August 20.
Noel Gallagher talks about reunion tours of Britpop bands
During the interview, Noel was asked if it feels odd to be on the road this summer at the same time as reunion tours from his old Britpop peers Blur and Pulp. He said:
“I didn’t know that, but good luck to them! Blur never split up, did they? Pulp never split up, they just went and did other things, which is the adult way of doing it. Sadly my fucking band were very far from adult about it. It was a bit more crash and burn.”
He was further asked whether he ever had any offers to do a Britpop reunion package tour. Furthermore, he was questioned if it was on a big cruise or something.
“Inevitably, it will happen. There’s never really been a serious offer about ‘The Big O’ getting back together, but there you go.”
