Oasis—one of the greatest bands of all time—is back in the spotlight. Noel Gallagher has just registered a new song called Leave The City, leaving fans buzzing with speculation. Could this be the first hint of a new Oasis album?
Noel Gallagher has registered Leave The City on ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. Interestingly, there’s no performer attached to the song—at least not yet. Fans immediately began wondering if this could be a track for Oasis reunion album.
This news comes hot on the heels of Liam Gallagher dropping some massive hints about Oasis recording new material. Back in September, a fan asked him if a new Oasis album was coming. Liam’s reply? ‘Yep, it’s already finished.’ And when another fan asked if the album was ‘in the air,’ Liam cheekily responded, ‘It’s in the bag, mate.”
But as always with Oasis, the story isn’t straightforward. In November, Liam backtracked on his earlier claims, telling fans there was ‘no Oasis album in the making’ and that he was joking. Fast forward to today, though, and it seems the tide may be turning once again.
When one fan suggested Oasis might be teasing an album but then vanishing after their reunion tour, Liam set the record straight. He wrote, ‘For your information, nobody promised you an album.’ But he didn’t stop there. In a follow-up, Liam added, ‘I reckon we nail this tour, be kind to one another, and there could be an album. This is what real bands do.’ It sounds like Liam is leaving the door wide open for new music.”
Fans have also noticed a softer side to Liam lately. After years of publicly calling Noel a potato, Liam seems to have had a change of heart. When a fan recently asked if Noel is still a potato, Liam replied, ‘No, he is not. I won’t have a bad word said about that gorgeous, talented young man.’
So, where does this leave us? On one hand, we have Liam’s hints and Noel’s registered song. On the other, there’s the ever-present unpredictability of the Gallagher brothers. For now, fans are holding their breath.
