Oasis announced their long-awaited reunion back in August and there has been a lot of speculation about whether Noel and Liam Gallagher will reunite in the studio, working to create a brand-new Oasis album for the first time in over 15 years. Liam Gallagher took to social media to confirm that there is no new music in the works from Manchester’s Britpop heroes.
Liam Gallagher breaks his silence on the matter
The Oasis reunion has been limited to an extensive world tour which will see the Britpop legends visit the UK, Ireland, Australia, as well as North and South America. This tour is set to begin in the summer of 2025 and run through til the winter, with the potential for more dates still to be added to the roster. However, this tour announcement only seemed to fuel the fire of fans speculating about new music to come from the Gallagher brothers.
In answer to these rumours, Liam decided to set to record straight. Writing on X, formerly Twitter, the frontman shared, “Let’s just calm the fuck down there is no Oasis album in the making,” explaining, “I was fucking joking remember them and the reason being because everyone is a little uptight these days I’m sorry if I have upset anyone but f*** me it was a laugh.”

This post was a response to an Oasis fan page that claimed the brothers have been working on new material. Liam appears to have dismissed those claims. However, it’s important to note that his social media posts haven’t always been accurate, and he seems to enjoy creating buzz on the platform.
Moreover, the idea of Oasis recording new material isn’t entirely far-fetched. Both Liam and Noel have continued to write music in their respective solo careers, much of which carries a similar atmosphere and style to Oasis’ discography. In particular, Liam’s solo work evokes the glory days of his old band from their 1990s heyday.
If Oasis were to record and release new material, it would be their first time back in the studio together since 2008’s *Dig Out Your Soul*. The recording process for that album was famously tumultuous, as the relationship between Liam and Noel Gallagher became increasingly strained. Moreover, the album itself is rarely regarded as one of Oasis’ finest works, often being considered forgettable at best.
Ultimately, the prospect of the band collaborating on new material seems unlikely, particularly since Noel, the primary songwriter, is still producing music for his solo project, The High Flying Birds. However, depending on the success of a potential reunion tour, there is certainly a possibility that new Oasis material could emerge at some point in the future.
