Former Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher recently sparked rumors of an Oasis reunion. The High Flying Birds frontman said he feels obliged to include tracks from his former band in his solo shows to justify his ticket prices for punters – leading some online to think a reunion is on the cards.
Noel waxed lyrical in a newly-uncovered interview shot for a documentary called Out Of The Now recorded in lockdown in 2021 about his past in Oasis.
Rumors about an Oasis reunion
He said:
”The time I think about Oasis is when I’m writing out a set-list for a gig, and I look at it, and it’s 21 songs (of mine), and there’s only Don’t Look Back In Anger (from Oasis) on it.”
”And I think, yeah, I might want to throw a few more on, you know?”
‘(I ask) ‘How much are the tickets?’ F*****g hell! I better throw Half The World Away in.
‘Really?’ (The tickets are that much?) Better throw Wonderwall in.”
One fan said about Noel’s comments in the resurfaced documentary: ”He clearly knows people want more Oasis in their lives if he adds in their songs to his solo shows so he doesn’t feel like he’s not giving us value for money.”
Another added: ‘‘He has nothing but good to say here about the band and doesn’t diss Liam once! They’ve clearly been talking.”
In the documentary he also said: ”I don’t have any problem reconciling with the past – Oasis was the greatest thing that’s ever happened in my life to me – ever – and ever will be.”
”’You’re on stage in those mega, mega gigs that we did and seeing it and, you know, we started from a council estate in south Manchester.”
”To get that big is the most incredible thing ever… the fact that group is embedded in people’s heads is an amazing, amazing thing. Ninety-nine per cent of songwriters in the world would want what I’ve had… my legacy with Oasis is set in stone, it’s done… I wrote Don’t Look Back In Anger, for f**k’s sake – and Wonderwall – in the same week.”
Noel Gallagher recently talked about the prospect of an Oasis reunion in the future. The beef between the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher is no secret. The split of Oasis certainly shocked the fans back in the day. In 2009, the band parted ways immediately following a backstage tiff in Paris. Tension had been brewing in the time building up to their scheduled performance at Rock en Seine festival. The weekend prior, Oasis pulled out of headlining V Festival because Liam Gallagher was suffering from laryngitis, and rumors floated about their tumultuous relationship.
