Sibling rivalries are nothing new, especially when it comes down to the Gallagher brothers.
The latest chapter in the ongoing saga between ex-Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher and his brother, Liam Gallagher, unfolded recently when Liam took to Twitter to critique Noel’s rendition of the Joy Division classic, “Love Will Tear Her Apart.” This, of course, sparked lots of new conversations about the duo’s relationship or lack-there-of.
In an exclusive interview with KPNW/Seattle, Noel Gallagher candidly addressed his brother’s negative tweet and set the record straight on rumors of an Oasis reunion.
Backstage at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, WA, during the opening night of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Garbage co-headlining U.S. tour, KPNW’s Marco Collins seized the opportunity to sit down with the former Oasis member. The interview dove rather deeply into the issues that the two brothers still have not overcome to this day.
Noel responded to Liam’s tweet with a mix of sarcasm and dismissiveness, seemingly unbothered by his brother’s remarks. Acknowledging the tweet as a form of flattery, he jokingly commented, “I take it as a compliment that he’s kinda trolling the f–king internet at whatever time in the morning looking for that kinda thing.”
However, Noel swiftly redirected the focus, advising Liam to concentrate on his own affairs rather than concerning himself with his sibling’s musical endeavors.
Noel scathed: “He should concentrate on what’s left of his f–king hairdo and not worry about what I’m f–king going up to.”
There can’t be an interview with either brother unless there’s a question about a reunion. This was a bit different, however as in a direct challenge to Liam, Noel stared into the camera and daringly invited him to make the call, fully aware of the consequences it would bring.
Noel seethed at the camera saying: “I f–king dare you to call me. I DARE you to call me.”
Noel added to it saying his brother needs to stop using social media so heavily. He said: “Stop tweeting. You’re bigger than that; you’re better than that.”
The Gallagher brothers’ dynamic has long fascinated fans and the media, creating a rich tapestry of love, rivalry, and artistic brilliance. While their relationship remains complex and unpredictable, it is clear that their musical legacies are deeply intertwined. Despite the occasional public squabbles, the allure of an Oasis reunion remains a tantalizing prospect for fans worldwide.
Will this ever turn back to love? It’s a long shot, to say the least.
