Noel Gallagher recently criticized Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance and called it “absolute nonsense.”
This past Sunday, Lamar made history by becoming the first solo rapper to headline the coveted Halftime Show. For the performance, he was joined by SZA and featured cameos from Samuel L. Jackson and Serena Williams.
Lamar performed a slew of tracks from his latest offering ‘GNX’, and two Drake disses ‘Euphoria’ and the acclaimed, Grammy-winning ‘Not Like Us’. Lamar’s Super Bowl performance also became the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show of all time.
On TalkSPORT, Noel was asked about his views on the rapper’s performance. Gallagher shared: “I had to switch it off. It was absolute nonsense.”
When asked about what specifically he didn’t like about Lamar’s performance, Knowl said: “I didn’t watch it all, I just switched it off. There was like 300 people getting out of a car in the first two minutes”.
He continued: “But no I don’t like the halftime nonsense, it’s usually artists I don’t like.”
Gallagher also opened to TalkSPORT up about his concerns over the mixing of music and sports and said: “Americans are taking over our sport, they’re taking over the Premier League, they’ll take over the Champions League, trust me, 20 years from now it will all be nonsense”.
