Morrissey has recently been involved in a public feud with his former bandmate from The Smiths, Johnny Marr. In light of their ongoing disagreements, Morrissey has made the bold decision to fire his entire management team. He announced this on his official website in a statement titled “MANAGEMENT,” where he noted that he has ended all ties with Red Light Management and Pete Galli Management. The reasons for this sudden change have not been specified, especially since Morrissey had just joined Red Light in February.
This decision follows a series of conflicting statements from Morrissey and Marr regarding various topics, including the possibility of a Smiths reunion (which is not happening), a Greatest Hits album (which will not be released), and Marr acquiring the Smiths trademark to tour with another singer (which he has no interest in doing).
Pete Galli, who recently parted ways with Morrissey as his manager, spoke exclusively to the Mercury, revealing his admiration for the singer. He described working with Morrissey as an honor, calling him a genius and an inspiration. Galli talked about Morrissey’s status as one of the greatest living lyricists, poets, and performers, highlighting his commitment to animal rights and free speech. He stated that Morrissey embodies the essence of a true artist and deserves recognition as a national and international treasure.
