Miley Cyrus Announces Hannah Montana Disney+ Special
Ms Miley Cyrus has said “Hannah Montana will always be a part of” who she is as she confirmed she will return to Disney for a new Disney+ anniversary programme. The singer and actress is marking 20 years since the Disney Channel series launched, revisiting the role that helped propel her to global fame.
The American star announced plans to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary in a Disney+ special set for release next month, with Birmingham Live reporting that the programme will be available to watch from March 24.
According to the report, the special will feature Ms Cyrus in front of a live studio audience for an in-depth interview reflecting on the sitcom more than a decade after it ended in 2011. The programme is due to be hosted by US podcaster Ms Alex Cooper and will include never-before-seen archival footage, with sets recreated including the Stewart family living room and Hannah Montana’s closet.
The announcement comes as Ms Cyrus continues a career that has expanded well beyond her Disney years, following earlier coverage of how she discussed stepping away from traditional expectations in her personal life amid her wider public profile.
Disney executives said the original series helped inspire fans to “dream big” and framed the anniversary programme as a tribute to the show’s audience, underlining the enduring popularity of Hannah Montana nearly two decades after its debut.
