Miley Cyrus and Lainey Wilson Duet on ‘Younger You’
Miley Cyrus has released a duet version of “Younger You” with country star Ms. Lainey Wilson, adding a full-circle twist to a song originally unveiled as part of a Hannah Montana anniversary project. The collaboration draws on Wilson’s early years performing as a Hannah Montana impersonator, and it arrives as Cyrus continues to revisit the Disney-era milestone in her career.
Rolling Stone reported that Cyrus and Wilson have shared a new duet version of “Younger You,” with Wilson calling it a “full circle moment” given her history impersonating Hannah Montana at parties and events before moving to Nashville.
The report said Wilson wrote on Instagram that, if she could tell her younger self one thing, it would be that after years of performing as Hannah Montana across birthday parties, fairs and festivals, she would one day “have a song with the real Hannah Montana.” Rolling Stone also described the new recording as pairing Wilson’s “twangy timbre” with Cyrus’ raspy vocal as they harmonise on a country-leaning chorus.
The duet follows renewed attention around Cyrus’ Disney roots, with BritpopNews previously reporting that Miley Cyrus is bringing back Hannah Montana as the anniversary special rolled out.
Rolling Stone added that the new version is set to be released on a 7-inch vinyl single scheduled for 24 July. The outlet also noted that Ms. Wilson recently presented Cyrus with the Innovation Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, where she described the singer as one of her biggest inspirations.
