Meghan’s Easter Video Sparks Privacy Backlash
Meghan Markle has faced renewed criticism after sharing an Easter-themed Instagram post featuring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with one commentator questioning whether the couple’s approach conflicts with their long-stated desire to protect their children’s privacy.
Express reported that journalist Ms Camilla Tominey referenced the Duchess of Sussex’s social media videos of the children taking part in an egg hunt and Easter games at the family’s Montecito home, arguing that glimpses of “private family moments” were being used as a promotional tool.
In her column, Tominey said the Sussexes have repeatedly insisted on protecting their children’s privacy but appear to be “deploying them as promotional tools”, adding that filming the children from behind or the side and withholding their faces is presented as a compromise that some critics still view as marketing.
The latest scrutiny follows previous debate about the Sussexes’ public sharing choices, including when Meghan Markle faced backlash over sharing photos of children online in earlier coverage of their social media strategy.
Prince Harry and the Duchess spent Easter in California, and the discussion is likely to continue as the couple balance public-facing projects with efforts to keep aspects of their family life out of the spotlight.
