Meghan Markle has seemingly made a nod to Princess Diana over the weekend as she donned the same purple college sweater her late mother-in-law was often seen in during her gym outings in her final years via PEOPLE.
On Sunday, February 23rd, the Duchess of Sussex gave a glimpse into her weekend activities on her Instagram Stories, wearing a purple Northwestern University crewneck. Meghan attended the university from 1999 to 2003. She graduated with a double major in Theater and International Relations.
Princess Diana passed away in 1997 and had her sweater as a memento of her visit to the university in June 1996, two decades before Meghan met her husband Prince Harry. Diana also toured the Chicago area where she met with students and stopped by a local hospital. She was later photographed wearing the sweatshirt outside the Chelsea Harbour Club in London, pairing it with white biker shorts and sneakers.
Meghan’s Instagram Stories on Sunday also saw a heartwarming moment with one of her children, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet. As she watered the garden under the California sun, a small hand reached out, playfully offering to take the hose.
The glimpse into her family life came as Meghan took some time off over the weekend and shared a video of herself walking in slip-on shoes in her backyard with the caption, “Small break from work to soak in the weekend ☀️.”
It’s a busy time for the Duchess, with her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan and her lifestyle brand As Ever both set to launch soon. The former actress’ lifestyle show is set to air on March 4, with the trailer showing her performing various activities including cooking in a kitchen and arranging flowers at a shop.
