Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is once again at the center of debate over whether she could ever comfortably return to the UK — with one royal commentator now claiming the Duchess of Sussex “wouldn’t be able to cope” with the public reaction.
The discussion erupted during a conversation on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive podcast, where royal commentators debated whether Meghan could eventually return to Britain for events like the Invictus Games in Birmingham or potentially to promote her growing As Ever brand.
Royal commentator Charles Rae argued he does not believe Meghan will willingly return to the UK because of how hostile public reactions could become.
“Her coming back here. Can you imagine what it would be like for her again to be out on the streets at a job – whether it’s a royal job or a jam job, or whatever. She’ll get booed.”
Rae then doubled down even further about the public mood surrounding Meghan in Britain.
“I don’t think she’ll be able to cope with the lack of enthusiasm from the British public for her being here… They don’t want her here. Nobody wants her here.”
However, not everyone agreed with that take. Jack Royston pushed back during the same discussion and argued Meghan may eventually need a UK appearance for business reasons tied to her lifestyle brand.
“When that moment comes, she’s got to come here and launch it,” Royston said. “You can’t do these things half-baked.”

The debate reflects the continuing divide around Meghan and Prince Harry in Britain following years of royal tensions, interviews, documentaries, and public criticism aimed at the monarchy.
At the same time, the Sussexes remain heavily tied to projects connected to the UK — especially Harry’s continued involvement with the Invictus Games.
Bottom line: Meghan Markle’s potential return to Britain is already sparking strong reactions before it even happens, with some royal commentators convinced she would face public backlash — while others believe her growing business ambitions may eventually force a UK comeback anyway.
