Harry and Meghan send message to Ukraine
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a message of support to Ukrainians as the country marks the fourth year since Russia’s full-scale invasion. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released the statement through their Archewell foundation, highlighting solidarity with those affected by the conflict.
In their message, the couple said they “stand in solidarity” with the people of Ukraine and praised “the courage and strength” shown by citizens, adding that they were “committed to supporting Ukraine”, The Independent reported.
The report said Archewell has previously backed humanitarian efforts connected to Ukraine, including support for organisations working with refugees and those displaced by the war. The Sussexes have also spoken publicly about Ukraine in past engagements and messages, with their foundation highlighting charity partnerships.
The latest statement comes amid ongoing public scrutiny of the couple’s international advocacy, following previous BritpopNews coverage of calls for the Sussexes to return to the UK after Boris Johnson’s remarks about the Duke’s decision to step back from royal duties.
Ukraine’s anniversary has prompted a series of statements and commemorations worldwide, with political leaders, charities and prominent figures issuing renewed appeals for support. Prince Harry and Meghan have not announced any new initiatives alongside their message, but Archewell said it would continue its work with partners responding to the humanitarian situation.
