Meghan Markle Video on $100 Candles Resurfaces
A resurfaced clip of Meghan Markle criticising the idea of selling high-priced candles has attracted renewed attention online, after the Duchess of Sussex recently sold candles as part of her As Ever lifestyle brand. The footage dates back to 2016, before she married into the Royal Family, and has been widely shared in recent days as debate continues about pricing in celebrity-backed product lines.
In the clip, Meghan is heard saying “100 dollar candles on my site… that’s so obnoxious,” a moment Express reported has resurfaced as her As Ever range has been promoted over the last few months.
The report notes that the As Ever candles are priced at $64 each, with a full collection sold for $256, prompting mixed reactions on social media. Express quoted comments from critics who argued the products were overpriced, while also noting that some supporters said they enjoyed the candles and the concept behind them.
The renewed focus comes amid previous discussion around her product launches, including Britpop News reporting on backlash over a $64 anniversary candle as the brand’s pricing and marketing have been scrutinised.
According to Express, Meghan has also hinted at an additional candle-related item, posting a photograph of a candle and what appeared to be matches on As Ever’s Instagram with the caption “A small spark, arriving tomorrow.”
