Madonna has spoken out against U.S. President Donald Trump after the White House shared a fake Time magazine cover showing him as a king. The picture had Trump wearing a crown with the words “Long live the king.”
The post came after Trump’s administration stopped New York’s congestion pricing plan, which would have charged drivers extra fees to enter parts of Manhattan. The White House X account celebrated the decision, writing, “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!” – President Donald J. Trump.
Many people were upset by the post, saying it was wrong for an American president to call himself a king. The U.S. was built on democracy, where leaders are elected by the people, not rulers who stay in power like kings.
Madonna shared her thoughts on Instagram, reminding people that America was created by those who wanted to escape the rule of kings.
“I thought this country was made by people who left Europe to be free from kings and build a government run by the people,” she wrote. “Now we have a president calling himself a king. If this is a joke, I’m not laughing.”
This isn’t the first time Madonna has criticized Trump. A few weeks ago, she spoke out when he signed an order removing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) positions from government offices. Many people saw this as a step backward for equality.
At the time, Madonna wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “It’s so sad to see our government slowly taking away the freedoms we have fought for and won. Don’t give up the fight!”
I thought this country was built by
Europeans, escaping living under the rule of a King, to establish a New World governed by the people.
Currently we have a president who calls Himself.
Our King

Madonna has always spoken up about politics and human rights. She has supported LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights, and racial equality for many years. Her latest comments show she is still standing up for what she believes in.
As the election has passed, Trump continues to make strong and controversial statements. Madonna’s words reflect the concerns of many people who fear that democracy is at risk. Whether or not Trump’s “king” comment was a joke, it has started a big discussion about leadership and the future of the country.
