Former Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher receently revealed that he’s delighted his children have now started suffering bad hangovers – because they’ve come to realise he wasn’t a miserable bad dad when he had them and wouldn’t get out of bed.
The Wonderwall hitmaker, 50, now engaged to Debbie Gwyther, has a son Lennon, 23, from his first marriage with Patsy Kensit, a daughter Molly, 25, from an affair with Lisa Moorish, and a younger son Gene, 21, from his time with Nicole Appleton, who he also married before they later split.
He also has a ten-year-old daughter Gemma from an affair with journalist Liza Ghorbani.
But the former Oasis bandmember said the older three have now started to appreciate the morning after feeling following a big night’s partying and drinking – and finally understand his former lifestyle from his younger wilder days. Liam said often now they say they’re not up to seeing him because of their throbbing heads.
Talking about his relationship with them and big nights out, the former Oasis rock star said: ‘They know now as well, because they’re getting little hangovers themselves and that.
”And they’re sitting there going ‘Oh, dad, you know like when used to be going ‘look, I’m not coming out, doing any of that today’, and I used to think you were a bad dad and all that tackle, because you were like over in bed – I get it now.”
”Because when you’re asking them to come round, they go ‘No, I was out til six in the morning’.”
”So you know…They’re out partying now. But it’s good.”
Liam said he is however managing to enjoy quality time with them and “having a laugh” when they all go out to his holiday home in France.
He told Jo Whiley on her Radio 2 show:
”We’re not sitting around reading books or discussing Rembrandt.”
”We’re having a good time, eating food, having arguments, all that stuff – having a good time.”
”When they were young I wasn’t really there that much to be fair. You’re there a bit. So it’s nice to be there.”
