King Charles Meets Idris Elba at College Visit
King Charles carried out a visit to Barking & Dagenham College on Wednesday, where he was pictured in conversation with actor Sir Idris Elba during a series of workshops alongside Queen Camilla. The engagement formed part of a day focused on skills and learning opportunities connected to the local area.
During the visit, the King was seen having an “animated chat” with Sir Idris at the college’s Rush Green Campus, Hello Magazine reported, as the royal couple met students and heard about courses and opportunities available at the site near Romford.
The same live update said the monarch also visited Eastbrook Studios, where he was photographed operating a lighting mechanism and handling a clapperboard while meeting students taking part in Film Barking & Dagenham’s “Make It Here Learning and Participation” programme. The appearances are part of the King’s continuing programme of public duties with the Queen.
The outing comes as the monarch remains under scrutiny on several fronts, including his recent statement of “profound concern” in relation to allegations involving Prince Andrew, as set out in Britpop News coverage of the King’s response to the Andrew claims.
Royal watchers will now look to the Palace diary for the King and Queen’s next scheduled engagements as the couple continue a run of visits highlighting education, training and the UK’s creative industries.
