Former President Donald Trump has accepted an invitation from King Charles III to visit the United Kingdom again for a state visit. The invitation was delivered in person by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who met with Trump at the White House. The two leaders also discussed ways to help end the war in Ukraine. King Charles III also allegedly fears near fatal poisoning.
While sitting together in the Oval Office, Starmer handed Trump the letter from King Charles and spoke about its importance. “This is very special. Something like this has never happened before,” Starmer said. He explained that the invitation shows how strong the relationship is between the U.S. and the U.K. “The last state visit was a big success, and His Majesty the King wants to make this one even better,” he added.
As he gave Trump the letter, Starmer joked that he was still waiting for an answer, making everyone in the room laugh. Trump quickly replied, “The answer is yes! On behalf of my wife Melania and myself, we gladly accept. We look forward to visiting, honoring the King, and celebrating your wonderful country.”
Trump also spoke highly of King Charles III, calling him a “wonderful man” and saying they have gotten to know each other well. “I met him during my first term, and now again in my second term,” he said.
The meeting between Trump and Starmer came at an important time, as the U.S. and European countries are trying to find ways to bring peace to Ukraine.
Now that Trump has accepted the invitation, preparations for his visit to the U.K. will begin. This visit will be another important moment in the relationship between the U.S. and the U.K.
